Lore
đ¸ The Croakari â Swampborn Sovereigns of the Shrouded Isles Faction Type: Amphibious / Arcane / Tribal Theme: Marsh mysticism, guerrilla warfare, ancient prophecy Signature Color: Murk green with glints of bioluminescent blue Battle Cry: “Croak, and the world listens.” đż ORIGINS IN THE MIRE In the fetid, fog-drenched reaches of the Shrouded Isles lies a realm untouched by map or compassâThe Croaking Deep. Here, beneath towering mangroves and in waters thick with secrets, the Croakari emerged. Not born, but called forthâthe Croakari are the children of the First Bog, an ancient, living wetland said to predate the seas themselves. According to their myth, the Bog once swallowed a star and was left forever glowing beneath its canopy. From this miracle-mire came sentient life: bipedal, semi-amphibious beings bearing both the grace of frogs and the cunning of men. The Croakari revere nature as deity, storm, and teacher. Every warrior is part mystic, every mystic a warrior. They speak to frogs, birds, and winds, and they claim to dream in the voice of the marsh. đŽ CULTURE AND CUSTOMS The Croakari live by The Croak, an oral tradition of prophecy, history, and war songs passed down through echoing croons and rhythmic clicks. Their society is guided by the Chorusâa council of elder croakers who interpret the Bogâs will. They believe in cycles: life and death, wet and dry, flood and drought. To them, battle is not conquestâit is correction. When the world grows too greedy, too loud, too dry, the Croakari rise to rebalance it. They do not build cities; they grow them. Their dwellings are hollowed stumps, drifting lilies, and ancient bones overgrown with moss and meaning. âď¸ STRATEGY AND WARFARE The Croakari are masters of ambush, camouflage, and confusion. Their ships are little more than floating reed villages, masked by mist and vines until itâs too late. What they lack in cannon fire, they make up for in sabotage, arcane poisons, and marsh magic. Common units include: Bogskippers â agile skirmishers that leap across decks mid-fight. Mirechanters â spellcasters who control fog, water currents, and enemy minds. Toadsworn Brutes â massive, musclebound Croakari who fight with clubs of root and coral. Polliwraiths â ghostlike scouts that haunt the edges of battle, striking from the shadows. Their ships pulse with lifeâsome say they are part-organic, shaped from driftwood and animated by symbiotic fungi. Others say the ships are alive in a more literal sense, and that each one has a name, a soul, and an appetite. đ§ ROLE IN THE WORLD OF BOOTY HUNTERS! The Croakari are not pirates by trade, but they will raid pirate gold when it threatens the balance of the seas. They view the Age of Sail as a festering woundâships carving scars across the ocean, burning coal and ambition. But they are not mindless savages. The Croakari speak with riddles, but they see clearly. They may ally with other factionsâbrieflyâbut only when the Croak aligns. Their true goal? To awaken the World Bogâa forgotten deity slumbering beneath the ocean floor. If it rises, the seas will flood, the land will rot, and only those who can breathe both air and water shall survive. đ¸ FACTION QUOTE âSteel rusts. Fire burns out. But water? Water waits. It seeps. It sings. It swallows.â â Gribblex, Mirechanter of the Second Croak
